Crossing the Alps

Long-distance cycle route Munich - Venezia

From the mountains to the sea - 3 countries and 3 climate zones: crossing the Alps by bike is a unique experience. Munich - Venezia is a very young route, but it has already made it into the hearts of the long-distance cycling community and is already ranked 6th among the most popular cycling routes outside Germany. The new, with its 3,000 m in altitude 560-kilometre-long route leads from Germany's southernmost metropolis, through Austria, to Italy's lagoon city on the Adriatic.

One of the geographical and emotional highlights of the route's 5 highlights is the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site of the Dolomites. Just over the Brenner Pass, everything revolves around the theme of "Alpine-Mediterranean lifestyle" - here the empty batteries are recharged with South Tyrol's unique blend of Alpine charm and southern dolce vita.

The classic

Drau Cycle Path

The Drau Cycle Path, divided into 7 stages, starts in Toblach and leads along the Drau River for almost 50 km through the Puster Valley - from Toblach via Innichen to Lienz - before crossing the Austrian border into Carinthia and continuing to the Croatian-Slovenian border to Varaždin. The famous cycle path can be cycled from Olang - the valley cycle route, which is a hiking trail and partly a cross-country skiing trail in winter, runs well signposted via Toblach towards the Austrian border. Along the Rienz and then from Toblach along the Drau, the cycle path leads eastwards - completely off the beaten track through idyllic landscapes.

EuroVelo 7

On the Ciclovia del Sole, the Sun Route, you discover Europe from the far north to the sunny south. The popular sun route leads over 7,700 km from the Norwegian Nordcap through a total of 9 European countries to the sunny archipelago of Malta. The EuroVelo 7 section takes you over 550 km along the Alpine rivers through Austria and via the Drau cycle path through the Puster Valley, where the Alpine adventure awaits long-distance cyclists: Crossing the Alps on an e-bike is very trendy and can be experienced thanks to modern pleasure trekking bikes and a little battery support.
