From December 15, 2024, to December 13, 2025, the Puster Valley railway will be closed on the section between Franzensfeste and Bruneck due to important modernization work. During this period, replacement buses will ensure smooth connections and will run every 30 minutes between Brixen and Bruneck. The train between Bruneck and Innichen will continue to run every half hour.
Why all this?
Arrival via Innsbruck/Brenner (A):
Take the Brenner Motorway (A22) to the Brixen/Puster Valley exit, then continue on the main road (SS49-E66) into the Puster Valley. The western gateway to the Kronplatz Dolomites region is located in St. Sigmund near Kiens.
Arrival via Lienz (A):
You can also reach us via Lienz in East Tyrol (A). Cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66), then continue on the main road (SS49-E66) into the Puster Valley. The eastern gateway to the Kronplatz Dolomites region is located in Welsberg.

► Travel from Germany or Austria
Travel to South Tyrol comfortably by train. With daily direct connections from Munich to Sterzing, Franzensfeste, Brixen, and Bolzano, as well as connecting and transfer options via ICE from cities like North Rhine-Westphalia, Hamburg, Hesse, Berlin, or Saxony. International train connections are available up to Franzensfeste/South Tyrol, where you can transfer to the local railway line into the Puster Valley.
On DB-ÖBB Eurocity trains between Munich and Bolzano, as well as in DB Travel Centers, you can purchase the "Connecting Ticket South Tyrol" at a discounted rate for public transport in South Tyrol. It is valid on the day of arrival or departure; the date must be entered on the ticket.
In Olang, you will find a train station.
► Travel from Switzerland
You can reach South Tyrol with SBB-ÖBB via Innsbruck and Brenner or travel to Zernez, from where you can take a bus to Mals. From Mals, regional trains and buses will take you to all towns in South Tyrol.
Travel with Flixbus
You can reach South Tyrol several times a day via Munich and Innsbruck with Flixbus.

South Tyrol’s only airport is located near Bolzano.
The nearest international airports outside South Tyrol are in Innsbruck and Munich to the north and Venice, Treviso, Verona, and Bergamo to the south.
Distances to and from Brunico:
The airports are well connected to South Tyrol through shuttle services to the respective train stations and trains operated by Italian State Railways, DB, and ÖBB.
