Directions
The route starts near the playground and congress centre in Mitterolang. Follow the asphalted Rodelweg steadily uphill, with gradients ranging from 8% to 10%, until you reach Pittola Farm (CallBus stop). Here, a short, flat gravel area offers the opportunity to observe piglets in an outdoor enclosure. Continuing uphill on asphalt, you will pass the Tolderhof riding centre, where you can watch horses. At the junction below the Panorama Restaurant and Pizzeria, turn left onto the gently ascending panoramic path along Auestraße (bus stop), passing pastures with Scottish Highland cattle and alpacas. At Aparthotel Winkelwiese and the nearby bus stop, turn right and follow the signs to the Kinderwelt adventure playground along a steep asphalted road with transverse rainwater drainage channels.
Kids World Playground
The entrance to the adventure playground is located in the forest and features an extremely steep downhill ramp (18% gradient) on a natural surface. After crossing a wooden bridge, the route continues downhill along a wide path, which is uneven in places due to gravel and exposed roots. Various play stations for children can be found along this section.
Ascent to the Church
At the end of the Kids World play area, keep right and follow a steep grassy slope uphill towards the church. Once you reach the square in front of the church in Oberolang, where you will find a drinking water fountain, a bench and a bus stop, follow Burgweg downhill on cobblestones. Here, you will find Café Pub Pfiff, a convenient place to stop for refreshments (no accessible toilet available). At the end of the pavement, which has a downhill gradient of 10–12%, turn right immediately before the bridge onto Erschbaumweg. This asphalted road continues gently and steadily past Schlosserhof Farm, where you can observe cows and calves in an open barn.
Final Section and Return Route
Shortly after Schlosserhof Farm, turn left near a drinking water fountain and a bench onto an unpaved path leading to a wooden pedestrian bridge. After crossing the bridge, a short but steep gravel section follows, with a gradient of 18%. After the unpaved section, the route continues uphill on asphalt for approximately 50 metres before joining the flat pavement along Kanonikus-Gamper-Straße, which leads directly back to the playground in Mitterolang and the starting point.
Accessible Alternative Route
To avoid the climb to the church and the subsequent descent, continue to the end of the Kids World playground. Instead of turning right, walk straight ahead for approximately 50 metres and take the wooden bridge on the left, which leads to Auestraße after just a few metres. Follow Auestraße downhill for approximately 200 metres until you reach the road bridge. After crossing the bridge, you will rejoin Erschbaumweg and the main route. If you also wish to avoid the following steep gravel section, continue straight downhill before the road bridge leading to Erschbaumweg. Follow the stream on your left along Hans-von-Perthaler-Straße until you reach the junction with Kanonikus-Gamper-Straße. This alternative allows you to bypass two of the steepest and most challenging sections of the route.
