A barrier-free walk for young and old, and for anyone who would like to explore the world of rocks at a relaxed pace. Discover the diversity of South Tyrol’s stones along a short, flat themed trail with numerous information boards. The route leads from Niederolang to Mühlbach. Along the way, you can learn about the unique characteristics of the region’s geology and enjoy peaceful moments along the trail.
Route description
The Steinmeile starts at the Unterdorf playground in Niederolang. From there, follow the road and then a path leading up to the upper part of the village. At the end of the path, you return to the paved Erlenweg road. From here, the route is also suitable for wheelchair users. Continue along the road to the playground Aue. After the playground, a forest track leads through the woods of Niederolang. Follow this gently uphill until the end of the route.
Note for wheelchair users
The first section of the route is only suitable for strollers. From the paved Erlenweg road onwards, the route is also easily accessible for wheelchair users.
Coming from Innsbruck/Brenner (A): Drive on the Highway of Brenner (A22) until the exit Brixen/Pustertal, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 50kms until you arrive in Olang/Valdaora.
Coming from Lienz (A): You can reach us also padding by Lienz in Westtyrol (A). You have to cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66) and drive on the SS46-E66 until Olang/Valdaora
Coming from Bozen: Highway of Brenner (A22) until the exit Brixen/Pustertal, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 50kms until you arrive in Olang/Valdaora.
